Chapter 7
Investigation 7
Craft Model — materials within the craft tradition of teacher education
Notebook: Investigation 7 – Task 1
Make use of the principles for writing role-play cards that you established in Sample Materials 1, Post-activity discussion, q. 3. Create an example role-play that your teachers can use with one of their English classes. It should connect with a particular unit in their coursebooks or with a point in their syllabuses.

Notebook: Investigation 7 – Task 2
Write a piece of material to follow up on the material in Sample Materials 2 (Box 7.4 and Appendix 1.7.2). You want to train teachers in your context to help their learners to become aware of and make use of one or more of the following sub-skills of reading: • reading for global understanding, • cohesion and coherence, • use of previous knowledge. You will probably need a definition of the sub-skill and a sample text with questions.

Notebook: Investigation 7 – Task 3
Write a true/false test for the kind of teachers you work with (see Sample Materials 3 for an example), based on any area that they are supposed to have learned about in one of your teacher education courses. Also supply the answers, with justifications.
